Chicago Young Republicans Weigh In

CYR'S DIGITAL LANDSCAPE -- WHAT'S NEXT?

Over the last four years, the CYRs' use of digital media has helped us grow to become one of the largest, most active, and most well-regarded YR chapters in the country.

In fact, our website redesign in 2009 took first place at the Young Republican National Federation (YRNF) meeting in 2010, our Twitter account @CYRs was featured by the Chicago Reader as a runner-up for best person to follow, and the CYR Weekly newsletter was selected for the Outstanding Club Newsletter Award by the YRNF in 2011.

But what's next? What should be next? How can we keep the momentum going, and what needs to change? If you're interested in helping us answer these questions (web, tech or marketing experience helpful but not required), please join our Digital Strategy/Planning team to help shape what's next. More details to come. Email info@chicagoyrs.com for more information.

We had to take decisive action. … Our fiscal house was burning.

Almost two years later, the Land of Lincoln is still aflame. The state began its 2013 fiscal year this past July with an estimated $8 billion of unpaid bills and a total of some 160,000 bills awaiting payment.

Illinois Policy Institute's Labor Manifesto: Roadblock to reform

Did you know that government employee unions have huge influence on state budget and policy? Did you know that these unions pursue their own special interests using money collected from government employee paychecks? These salaries are taxpayer funded, which means your tax dollars are going to advance someone else's agenda.

Is this what democracy looks like?

A Response to the State of the Union

While Americans suffer from a stagnant economy, high unemployment, and a record $15 trillion debt,  President Obama, in Tuesday's State of the Union Address, advocated more of the same: trillions in spending, higher taxes, and more aggressive regulations.

He called for more government-based solutions and redistributive wealth policies, all while ignoring unpopular signature legislation like the Stimulus, the Frank-Dodd Act, and Obamacare.
