Fresh off the success from our marketing campaign and membership drive, August has brought many unique challenges for the CYRs. The last few weeks have tested our organization, and now altered our leadership. During the final phase of this critical election cycle, Brian Matos will use his expertise as a broadcast journalist as our new Communications Director while Shawn Healy returns to the CYR Board as our Treasurer. I will humbly serve as our new President.
These are significant changes. Guidance from our advisors and an outpouring of support from our members have allowed for a smooth transition. The CYRs are a forward-looking organization and, now more than ever, our focus is on GOP victories in November.
This weekend, some CYRs will help State Senate candidate Brian Doherty canvass in the 10th District, while others will reach out to Chicagoans at “Retro on Roscoe” in Roscoe Village. Next week marks the start of a CYR phone-banking initiative based at our Lincoln Park office. Parades, festivals, fundraisers, policy conferences, book clubs, and get-out-the-vote efforts fill the remainder of the month, engaging Republicans and right-leaning folks of all types. And throughout this constant stream of activity, a medley of CYR members are busy on the campaign trail.
It is an exciting time to be on the Right in Illinois. Republicans throughout our city and state are challenging the Democratic status quo, and it is critical we not lose our momentum. We must move forward and stay focused on the end goal. Please join us!
