Chicago Young Republicans Weigh In

Reason #43359 that I'm a minarchist

I know some of the people in this group aren't minarchists, and many don't want medical marijuana legalized, but look what Alabama's doing.  Banning cold medicine with the decongestant pseudoephedrine. Is this really going to work?  You can make drugs with anything...glue, whipped cream, paint thinner, you name it.  Why be a pain in the butt to people with allergies?  Don't you know that allergies screw up productivity?  People miss work and school, and can't focus even if we do go.  Did those law makers think of that?

This is annoying and discouraging.  The first inhailer I was on for asthma was banned because it had CFCs, and now people in Alabama have to jump through hoops when they have a  stuffed up nose?  BS.

My Article

Thanks for quoting and linking to my article.

My initial reaction was the same as yours and I also thought that the doctors are going to get rich off this.

Now people can't just go to a pharmacy, they need to schedule an appointment and pay for an office visit.

Cold medicines are severely restricted by federal law due to an amendment to the law renewing the Patriot Act.

From my research into this article, Alabama has a serious meth problem.

Due to "innovations" by meth dealers, it is far easier to make meth out of cold medicines than it used to be.

The process is not any less dangerous.

Politicians due have a tendency to over react and sacrifice our rights to easily.

As federal law is already pretty strict, an out right ban does seem a little too extreme.
