Chicago Young Republicans Weigh In
Coffee with Bill Brady

I sat down with Bill Brady Saturday morning, April 17th, and got to ask him a few questions regarding his campaign:
Q: What are your plans for solving Illinois' problems if you become Governor?
A: Well, I look at Illinois as a business. And right now, we're competing with 49 other businesses. I want to transform this state back into a business friendly environment that will attract private sector growth and bring jobs back to Illinois. I raised my kids in Illinois and I want them to raise their kids here too. If we continue to go down this path, they won't be.
Q: How do you plan to bring business and jobs back to Illinois?
A: By encouraging private sector growth through employer incentives, cutting back taxes in this state to make us competitive with our neighbor states, getting rid of wasteful regulation, and balancing our budget by cutting wasteful spending. I think my background as a business leader and employer is exactly the kind of leadership I can provide that the state needs right now, and I think we're going to get a very receptive audience this year who agrees with that.
Q: Although you might have the best of intentions in your campaign to become Governor, if the Democrats maintain their majority in the General Assembly, do you think the possibility of facing a hostile legislature could hamper your efforts at reform?
A: Well, first of all, I really think the Illinois Republicans will have the mandate going into the 2010 elections. The citizens of Illinois, not to mention the Democrats as well, are experiencing a wake-up call. Most people in Illinois can't remember a time when things were this bad, and I think the Republicans have a lot of good ideas to solve today's problems. Having said that, I've been a state senator for 8 years now, and I know plenty of politicians across the aisle in the General Assembly. I would think they'll put their careers to the side once the elections are over, and work together to do what's best for the citizens of this state.
I know that's all the time you have but thank you very much for taking a few minutes to sit down with me Senator Brady.
My pleasure, thank you.
