Chicago Young Republicans Weigh In

(More) Ruminations of a Chicago Young Republican

“Has anyone vandalized the CYR ads yet?”

…This question is thrown at me almost daily, from (Republican) friends and foes alike.

You see, it's been sixteen days since the Chicago Young Republicans launched its first ever Integrated Marketing Campaign (IMC).  As many know by now, we've undergone extensive advertising, with ads for our organization appearing at the CTA Red, Blue, and Brown Lines, buses, billboards, the Red Eye, restaurant & bars, taxi toppers, Facebook, Google, and other internet banners.  Put simply, it's the most ambitious and daring push to promote the Republican Brand in Chicago in years.

So, not surprisingly, many interested in our IMC ask: Has anyone defaced the signs yet?  Before I can answer, inquirers insist that we are “brave,” “courageous”—even “nervy,” for being so open with our “Rightness” in this Democratic bastion.  Seriously??

I guess that in Chicago, merely being open about your affiliation with one of America’s two major political parties elicits surprise and even shock from onlookers.  That’s the reality after decades of one-party rule.

Ultimately, we aren’t particularly daring or cunning, audacious or crazy.  We’re just tired of being ostracized in this wasteland of Democratic politics—a wasteland polluted by massive spending, exorbitant taxation, and never-ending corruption.  Now is the precise time, and Chicago the place, to reveal and celebrate our Republican stripes.

…. And no, nobody’s laid a finger on any of our ads.

Saw the ad on the EL today

Saw the ad on the EL today given negative response from several passengers. This is not a productive ad for any party . . .
