That's how I would characterize the President's first State of the Union tonight. From the remark that Republicans don't have suggestions for healthcare reform (which Gov. Bob McDonnell expertly skewered) , to his contempt for our intelligence as he continuously changed his stance -- even within the same breath. ("Let's change the tone in politics" and 2 seconds later "Democrats, you have the largest majority in decades..."), Obama displayed his stubbornness and desire to "keep fighting" . But he'll be fighting for his policies.
It was certainly was not his best speech. And any hope that recent electoral defeats might convince him to rethink what he and Nancy and Harry have been trying to push down our throats is gone. Though it seems like the 2010 campaign has already been going on for a year (it has here in Illinois), I think the 2010 season started in earnest tonight. Let us hope Republicans in Congress continue to hold tough and resist poor leadership, because resisting poor leadership is leadership.
