Chicago screening of CEI’s new seven-minute film, “I, Pencil

 

 

Join the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the The Heartland Institute at the Union League Club of Chicago for a reception, short film, and panel discussion. The event will include the first Chicago screening of CEI’s new seven-minute film, “I, Pencil”; a panel with CEI president Lawson Bader and CEI Founder & Chairman, Fred Smith on Markets, and the Forces that Guide Them, with opening remarks by Jonathan Hoenig of Capitalist Pig; as well as an opportunity to meet CEI and Heartland Institute staff members and learn more about each organization’s programs.

Chicago has been chosen as the host city for the 2015 Young Republican National Convention!

Congrats to the site selection team, which includes John Head, Kristin McCarter, and Mike LaPidus. They were supported in Omaha by Illinois Federation of Young Republicans Chairman Dennis Cook and Chicago Young Republicans President Angel Garcia.

Sen. Kirk Dillard 2013 State of the State Reaction

When Gov. Pat Quinn delivered his annual State of the State speech Feb. 6, many lawmakers were hoping for detailed plans on how the Governor would fix Illinois’ broken pension system and get the state’s economy back on track. However, despite an upbeat message from the Governor, Senator Dillard said the reality is Pat Quinn’s failed leadership and ineffective policies have contributed to the state’s ongoing fiscal challenges.
