Is there an age restrictions in becoming a member of the Chicago Young Republicans?
In order to be a voting member, you must be 18 to 40 years of age (inclusive). Others can join as Associate Members without voting privileges, but can attend meetings and events.

 
How do I become a member of the Chicago Young Republicans?
There are two ways of becoming a member of the Chicago YRs. The easiest way is to sign-up via PayPal on our website (www.chicagoyrs.com/Join). You can also send a check for $25.00 made out to “Chicago YRs” PO Box 10470, Chicago, IL 60610-9998

With your check, also include your name, address, e-mail address, and date of birth.

What are the benefits of becoming a member?
Becoming a member of the Chicago Young Republicans gives you an excellent opportunity to become involved in Republican Party. Whether your interest is social (i.e. meeting other Republicans in the City of Chicago), political (e.g. getting involved in campaigns, phone banking, or precinct walks), or both, the Chicago YRs can provide these opportunities for you. Members also receive a discount on all Chicago YR social events, have the opportunity to run for an office in the Chicago YRs, and have access to various Republican politicians throughout the Chicagoland area.

When and where are the Chicago Young Republicans business meetings held?
Business meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at 6 pm at Marcello's Restaurant located at 645 North Avenue.

Can only the Chicago YR officers attend the business meetings?
No. All are welcome to attend the business meetings, including members, associate members, and non-members.

Can only members attend the social events?
Members, associate members, and non-members are invited to attend any social event. However, members and associate members are offered discounts on the cost of the event.

Are there specific committees within the Chicago Young Republicans that I can join when I become a member?
Yes. There are numerous committees to interest all, including:

• Political Action Committee
• Publicity Committee
• Membership Committee
• Program Committee

 
Are there opportunities to get involved nationally?
Yes. Members of the Chicago Young Republicans are active in the YRs nationally. These individuals would be more than happy to discuss opportunities on the national level with you.

 
What kind of political activities are the Chicago Young Republicans currently involved in?
The Chicago Young Republicans have taken part in numerous political activities, including primary signature gathering, petition challenges, a Halloween precinct walk, candidate meet and greets, literature drops, and hosting a hospitality suite at the State GOP Convention.  In addition, many of our members also volunteer for political offices and campaigns.

 
I’m really not interested in handing out fliers for candidates, phone banking, doing precinct walks, etc. Will I be required to do so when I join?
No. All activities of the Chicago Young Republicans are completely voluntary. Some members choose to join solely for social networking with like-minded locals are not interested in the political activities.

 
I am very busy with my job and/or school. I would like to become a member, but do not know how much time I can commit to the organization. What are the commitments of a member?
Once a member, your depth of involvement in the Chicago YRs is completely up to you. You can be as involved as you like, and only attend the events that interest you.

 
Will my membership and participation in the Chicago Young Republicans really make a difference in Republican politics in the City of Chicago?
Absolutely! The Republican Party is gaining momentum in Chicago. Now is the best time to get involved.
